The CARDIFF TESTS

Summary: The Cardiff Tests of Visual Acuity and Contrast Sensitivity  consist of 3 sets of 11 grey cards each with a picture at either the top or the bottom of the card. The cards are presented to a child in a sequence and if the child makes a clear, correct look (gauged by eye movements) at 2 cards in each set, the examiner proceeds to a higher level until the child cannot see the picture. The technique is based upon forced preferential looking whereby a child will tend to look at a pattern or picture if he/she can resolve it. It measures binocular vision at a working distance of 50 cm.

Duration: 2.5 minutes per test
